Piñata character explorations

When I was a child on every birthday my parents made the piñata for my party. I helped them, so I've always loved to make piñatas. For the 2019 Pictoplasma Alumni exhibition I decided to make a piñata mobile. I modeled the characters in 3D, then I unwrapped them in order to print them and assembled them with paper and glue. After that I covered them with papier maché and tissue paper fringes. In 2020 world lockdown Pictoplasma launched a new call for entries which consisted on taking a portrait using a mask. Again I chose to make a piñata. It was featured at the Pictoplasma's Magazine first issue. Photos by Rodrigo Hernández
